The Museum of Cigarette Packaging
Cigarettes are a fascinating product. Whatever your attitude is towards smoking, there are few products around that exhibit such a diversity and beauty of packaging. It is amazing how a product that is essentially always the same can be sold in so many varieties. The brand – and with it the packaging – has tremendous weight.
When I became interested in exploring that topic, I came across a number of people who collect cigarette packs. One in particular stood out:
Igor Sergeev, who lives in Moscow, has a collection of over 40,000. Unfortunately, he exhibits it on a website that is suited for other collectors rather than for people interested in packaging design. The Museum of Cigarette Packaging shows his collection from a different perspective.
